Happy National Mentor Month

Did you know that January is National Mentor Month?

Each year, volunteers in the nation’s largest mentoring organization, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBSSA), mentor children ages 6 to 18 in communities across the country. These volunteers dedicate countless hours of their busy schedules to their “littles,” 52% of whom, according to BBBSA, are less likely to skip school, and are 46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs.

Are you a Big Brother or Sister? Do you mentor or know someone who does? Volunteering at the C2C Giving Factory is a fun, rewarding, and completely free way to spend time with your friend. We host kids ages five and up, and it’s a great way to have fun while also creating meaningful memories and instilling values. You could even make a routine out of it, or partner with other Brother and Sister teams and volunteer as a group. It’s easy: simply sign up on our website.

When’s the last time you made a difference in a child’s life? Share your story, below.

On a volunteer day at Cradles, I had several young children in the volunteer group I was working with. The work was appropriate for kids and they had a ton of fun. One kid even asked his mom if they could come back the next weekend.

Men are desperately needed as mentors. It’s a wonderful thing for children to have a “big guy” in their lives.
